| Isn't
it time
that you indulged your senses in the peace of Shabbat.
Find
out what your spirit has been missing in the chaos of the week.
Discover it at Shir Hamakom. Let it inspire you all week.
We
meet for Kabbalat Shabbat services on the 1st or 2nd Friday of the
month. (Check service schedule here)
Our worship is called Thank God it's Friday (TGIF) and begins with a
social hour at 5:30 to relax, meet friends and begin to unwind from the
workweek and welcome Shabbat with wine, food and conversation.
Our
worship begins at 6:20 (until 7:30) and includes a participatory,
welcoming music-based service in addition to thoughtful insights on
some aspect of Jewish living and increasing the spirituality and
meaning in our everyday life moments.
Following
services, we usually meet at a local home for a pot luck, casual
Shabbat dinner. For details, join our mailing list: shirhamakom@gmail.com
Shabbat
is one of our greatest gifts in the
Jewish tradition - the mandate and opportunity to slow down, to
separate from outside chaos, and to draw together as a community in
song, prayer, peace and personal reflection. As the pace and frenzy of
the world spirals out of control, we increasingly need the spiritual
nourishment and grounding that music and Shabbat provides. We invite
you to join us
in welcoming Shabbat.
Our culture and our
worship is
egalitarian and inclusive, full of music
and life affirming. Our community embraces and respects tradition while
remaining open to experimentation and innovation in prayer and
observance. We all share a journey to find a path back to our Judaism,
which challenges each of us to question, explore and work together to
create a Jewish community and a Jewish life that is meaningful, joyous
and relevant.
