Shir
Hamakom presents "Boomer Shabbat" on Friday, November 12th at 6pm in
East Hartford, Connecticut
(465 Oak Street, East Hartford, CT 06118)
Everyone welcome, no RSVP necessary. Come and experience the
casual atmosphere, music and magic that Shir Hamakom is known for
during this special service welcoming the Sabbath.
In the traditional Hebrew worship service, there is a flow to the act
of inviting the Sabbath and letting go of the chaos and frenzy of the
workweek. This unique service captures the mood of each prayer in
a popular song from the 60's and 70's, which we will sing. Your
"siddur" or service booklet is filled with English lyrics to the 18
songs that will become this service; favorites from James Taylor,
Dylan, the Beatles, Bob Marley and many others.
This special service is entirely in English, no Hebrew skills required.
We invite everyone to enjoy this fun music worship service.
Join Rabbi Elias Lieberman, Dr. Wendy
Nelson and Pamela Rothstein from Falmouth, Massachusetts
who conceived of this popular and song-filled
worship experience. Arnie Davidson, our worship leader, will
accompany them on keyboards. In the spirit of the evening, wear
your casual 60's wear: beads, bellbottoms and patchoulli. Most of
all, come ready to sing and celebrate the arrival of Shabbat in a new
way that will leave you singing for the rest of the week.

Shir
Hamakom is a
Jewish music
worship
community based on song and celebration in Creater Hartford
Connecticut. We were established in 2009 by
a dozen families
looking to rekindle their Jewish spirituality with community worship,
music and learning that excites the mind and ignites the soul.
We
blend the traditional with the new, always with music, capturing a
vital new Jewish spirit.
Our focus is re-examining traditional Jewish prayer, using contemporary
song and new music, often a blend of the original Hebrew with
interpretive English lyrics. If you are familiar
with the
prayers, you'll feel energized and at home, if they are new to you,
you'll feel welcome by our spirit and music.
